In the The Military Base, you will find a Survey Map held in a footlocker in one of the outter tents that will reveal San Francisco's location after using it. There's plenty of interesting geographic features, a University on a hillside, and the population has a whole bizarro vibe of hippies, and rednecks, actual Tribal governments, secretive weed growers, libertarians, and other extreme personality types to work with.Having San Francisco revealed on your map can only happen right before you get there, oddly enough. Plus it would end up attracting all kinds of hardened survivor and conquerer types from the other places for the relatively unspoiled land and abundant living resources. Imagine playing a Fallout set in a vast forest, with mutated trees that were 300 feet tall to begin with (the Endor scene from Return of the Jedi was shot there). Additionally, it's protected by mountain ranges on the North, East and South so I'm fairly certain it would also be protected from most of the fallout drift. Why? Because that's the Old Growth Redwood Forest up there, and because it's sparsely populated and has no real targets of military or strategice importance, it's very unlikely it would suffer more than a few (if any) direct hits during an all-out nuclear exchange. I want to see a 3D Fallout game set entirely in the Coastal "Tribal Territories" north of Navarro.
